Overview
The Industrial XGS-PON OLT SFP+ Transceiver (Class N1) is a ruggedized optical module designed for delivering symmetric 10-Gigabit broadband services in extreme environments. Built to withstand operating temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, this transceiver is essential for outdoor line terminals, unconditioned street cabinets, and industrial networking applications where commercial-grade modules would fail.
Compliant with ITU-T G.9807.1, it supports symmetric 9.953 Gbps data links over Single Mode Fiber (SMF). This module utilizes the Class N1 optical power budget, making it a cost-effective solution for standard ODN (Optical Distribution Network) architectures with typical split ratios (e.g., 1:32) and distances up to 20km.

Class N1 vs. Class N2
Understanding the optical budget is crucial for network planning:
- Class N1 (This Product): Offers a nominal optical budget of 29 dB. It is suitable for standard deployments, typically supporting split ratios of 1:32 over 20km.
- Class N2: Offers a higher optical budget of 31 dB. It is used when extra link margin is needed for higher split ratios (1:64) or networks with higher attenuation.
Choose Class N1 for standard deployments where the extra transmit power of N2 is not required.
FAQ
1. Can I use this Class N1 module in a Class N2 network?
It depends on the total loss of your fiber plant. Class N1 has a lower power budget (~29dB) than Class N2 (~31dB). If your network loss (splitters + cable distance + splices) exceeds 29dB, you must use a Class N2 module. For standard networks designed within 29dB loss, Class N1 is sufficient and more cost-effective.
2. Does this module work with GPON ONUs?
No. This is an XGS-PON only module. It transmits at 1577nm and receives at 1270nm. Standard GPON ONUs operate at 1490nm/1310nm and will not detect the signal. To support both GPON and XGS-PON simultaneously, you need a “Combo PON” OLT transceiver.
3. What does “Industrial Temperature” mean?
Standard transceivers are rated for “Commercial” temperature (0°C to 70°C). “Industrial” modules use hardened components to withstand -40°C to +85°C, ensuring the link doesn’t drop during freezing winters or in overheated outdoor cabinets during summer.
4. Is Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) supported?
Yes, DDM is integrated, allowing network administrators to monitor real-time parameters such as optical output power, input power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver supply voltage.
